Trim Tool & Machine is a precision CNC machining source for aluminum die castings. With 17 CNC vertical machining centers, 4th axis capability (a-axis), CNC lathes, in-house fixture development, and CMM inspection, we provide complete machining solutions for die cast components — from prototypes to full production runs.
We have built fixturing, trim dies, and have machined nearly every type of die casting. We work with die casting companies across a broad range of industries and applications including automotive, lighting, electronics, industrial equipment, power equipment, and more.
Die casters who perform machining in-house utilize us as fixture builders while others use us as a complete secondary machining solution. We build custom workholding solutions and provide complete machining services for aluminum die castings as well as zinc.
Machining Capabilities
Machining is necessary to control features and tolerances that die casting alone cannot achieve. We offer full secondary machining services. Proper workholding combined with our array of CNC mills and lathes allows us to machine die castings efficiently and accurately, taking your raw casting to final print.
Our capabilities include dedicated and multi-station fixturing solutions for complex geometries utilizing 4th axis machining if necessary. We have multiple CNC pallet machines to reduce load times and costs.
Common machining requirements include drilling & tapping, boring, reaming, countersinking, threading, facing, pocketing, and CNC turning. Special tools like right angle heads help us achieve machining in one hold for difficult or hard-to-reach features.
Our Equipment
Trim Tool & Machine’s production floor includes 17 CNC machining centers manufactured by Brother or Toyoda, 2 CNC Hardinge lathes, and a Mitutoyo CMM. We have the ability to handle low volume and high volume production runs and the flexibility to scale as your needs change.
CMM Inspection
CMM inspection is standard for all production die casting work. Parts are consistently inspected and reports generated for full GD&T, true position, perpendicularity, flatness, and other geometric tolerances. First article inspection is available as well as ongoing in-process and final inspections.
In-House Fixture Development
Proper fixturing is critical to machining castings accurately and efficiently. We build custom CNC machining fixtures designed specifically for your casting, your machine, and your production requirements.
